Michael McKean

With over 35 years’ experience in Financial Services, Michael has a wealth of experience gained from various positions across a wide range of financial institutions such as NAB, Metway, HFC Finance and Suncorp. 

Michael has been the driving force of Metsure since 2008 growing an Advice, Insurance Broking and Mortgage practice from a small boutique operation to servicing a network of clients Australia Wide. 

One thing that Michael prides himself on and installs in the team is ’look after the client and the client will look after you’. It is this way of thinking which motivates his team to do their very best for the client on each and every occasion.

Michael has been a strong supporter of local charities and community sporting teams around the Sunshine Coast for a number of years.

When Michael is not in the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife of 25 years and his 4 beautiful children.

Shem Aitken

Shem is a third generation Insurance Broker with over 15 years in the industry, over this time he has travelled and worked extensively throughout Queensland.

He has seen firsthand the devastating effects of cyclones, droughts and other natural disasters which makes him perfectly suited to utilise this experience in tailoring comprehensive policies for his clients.

Shem is a past sponsored nominee in the Queensland Young Person of The Year competition within the field of Personal Motivation and competed in such All Abilities Disabled Golf Championships as the Masters Games and Stableford Winner of the 2021 QLD Open.

He assists his clients through all fascists of their Personal and Business Insurance requirements with genuine positivity and care.

Elliott is a keen bike rider and when he is not in the office, he will be riding around the coast, enjoying a coffee or two.

 Ian is a lending specialist who is across all aspects of personal, residential and business lending. After 22 years working for NAB across south east Queensland, Ian moved into finance broking in 2007 to provide his clients a personal ‘relationship style’ service they deserve. Ian’s expertise and experience enables him to provide honest, reliable, accurate and professional advice. His country upbringing and genuine nature makes clients feel comfortable and enjoy doing business with him.

He is an experienced, fully qualified and accredited broker who goes ‘above and beyond’ for his clients. He has been giving trusted advice for many years, which has led to an impeccable reputation and respect amongst clients and piers.

Emma has been working for Metsure for over 2 years and is currently completing her last semester at University studying a Bachelor of Commerce and majoring in Financial Planning and Human Resource Management.

Emma will do her graduate year at Metsure and is also completing a Certificate III in Insurance.

Emma is excited to be able to work with existing and future clients to offer a personalised and professional service.

In her spare time Emma enjoys spending time at local coffee shops and hanging out with friends with her pet dog Arlo at the beach..

 
 

Fiona Carthew

Fiona started her Insurance career not long out of school and for 15 years worked in city and country NSW in all lines of insurance from domestic, rural, small business, to corporate and marine insurance. She then left financial risk management to raise her family of now three children whilst keeping busy as physical and mental health carer and support worker.

Fiona is excited to return to the Insurance Industry with Metsure Insurance Brokers, bringing a caring approach and down to earth attitude. When not managing others financial risk, she is taking her own risks being an avid roller skater, adventurer and a keen photographer and musician.

 

Peggy Barratt

Peggy has worked in the insurance industry for the past 30 years, starting at Elders in country NSW where she enjoyed dealing with the rural community, initially working on rural insurance products covering farms, crops and livestock.

Since then, Peggy has held positions in various insurance roles, working as an underwriter, agent, broker and for a loss adjusting company, managing various types of claims. Peggy’s varied work experience has given her a well-rounded, practical education in all lines of insurance (rural, crop insurance, commercial risks, domestic, motor) which gives her a unique perspective when dealing with Insurers. Peggy enjoys the challenging complexities of insurance, deciphering information into ‘plain english’ to help clients understand their policies better. Peggy has two teenage sons that keep her busy, enjoys performing locally as a solo vocalist, is an avid John Farnham fanatic, loves artistic roller skating, tennis and her fur-family of four (two indoor bunnies and two very spoiled dogs).
